James Michael Buchanan, Jr., DDS
My name is J. Michael Buchanan Jr., D.D.S. and I am honored to become a member of the Greater Charlotte Community.
I am originally from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and am the son of a dentist. My interest in living in North Carolina stems from my childhood experiences visiting the Outer Banks where I developed a great love of nature and fishing.
After attending the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History, it has always been my intention to one day return. After completing my dental school education at the University of Maryland Dental School, I received my specialty certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
After residency, it was an honor to join the United States Army Dental Corps. In 2006 I became a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Upon completion of my service in the military, I assisted the development of a hospital-based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service in Exeter, NH. My interest in pursuing further adventure after leaving a hospital institution took me to the western border of North Dakota where I worked with a childhood mentor in a very busy private practice serving the great folks of the upper midwest during our nation’s largest oil boom.
While in North Dakota I realized it was time to return to North Carolina and start my own practice. I am happy to now call Charlotte home. It is exciting to see my dream fulfilled in opening The North Charlotte Center for Oral Surgery and Dental Implants. It is a great privilege to be an Oral Surgeon entrusted with the care of my community and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to serve the Greater Charlotte Community.
